Visits to Members Gardens
Four members very kindly opened their gardens to groups of club members this year. Vera Ainsworth opened her garden on a lovely day in May and we were treated to tea and cakes in her lovely town garden with box balls clipped to perfection. In June Louise Griew opened her garden in the evening for a glass of wine and canapes and by popular request Barbara Tyndell opened her delightful garden again with sunshine, plants for sale and tea and scones - what more could you want! The final garden opening for the year in July was Catherine Dalloway where we were treated to another very pleasant afternoon admiring her colourful pots and borders with courgette and lemon cake for afters. Thanks to jenny for the photographs.

Members enjoying Vera's garden in May
We run a number of outings each year to go and see for ourselves what other horticulturalists are up to.
This year we went to Blenheim Palace Flower Show in June and in September we are going to the RHS Garden at Wisley. There are still places available for this trip.
There are photographs from our 2016 outings to RHS Show at Tatton Park and Hampton Court Castle in Herefordshire below.
RHS Flower Show Tatton Park - Saturday 23rd July
We had a lovely day at Tatton Park. The coach journeys went very smoothly with no traffic hold ups. The weather was lovely, warm and sunny but not too hot for enjoying the gardens and exhibits. A good time was had by all. The coach easily accommodated our many purchases and we came home happy with new plants and new ideas.
A big 'THANK YOU' to Jenny for arranging the trip!

Hampton Court Castle Gardens - Sunday 9th October
These gardens are in Herefordshire - not to be confused with Hampton Court London! We had a lovely sunny day for our trip and there was plenty to see in the gardens and a lovely cafe for lunch. We also had a short tour of the castle in the afternoon. The gardens are extensive. You enter through a large walled kitchen garden and then walk on to a formal pool and summer house, herbaceous boarders and large lawn in front of the castle. There is also a maze to entertain and not all of us managed to navigate our way to the centre! Beside the maze is a sunken garden around a pool and a grotto and a secret entrance to the centre of the maze behind the waterfall. It was a very pleasant visit and a lot of fun as you can see from the photos. Link to web site.
